Timing

I was saddened by the news. Hear you me came on after I hung up the phone. There was love before it began.

I'd sing to you just one more time.
A song for a heart so big,
god wouldn't let it live.
May angels lead you in.
Hear you me my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.
May angels lead you in.
Hear you me my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.
May angels lead you in.

Lyrics from Hear you me by Jimmy Eat World.

not without love

In theory, Valentine’s Day is my second favorite holiday. The day (in my mind) is supposed to be about celebrating love, regardless of the kind of love that it is.

There are a lot of things that happened in my childhood that I wish hadn’t happened the way that they had or hadn’t happened at all. Choices that were mine to make were taken away from me. I want so much more for my niece and nephew. I want them to feel the freedom to choose to be involved in things that they love and have support from their family in doing those things. I want them to feel completely confident in their skin. I want them to learn and be challenged to continue to learn outside of school. I want them to see that life is beautiful. It isn’t always pleasant, and certainly not easy; but beautiful.

That was a bit of a tangent. Anyhow, what I mean to say is that I hope that you are enjoying this day. This Tuesday. This February 14, 2006. This Valentine’s Day.

Breathing in, I calm my body.
Breathing out, I smile.
Dwelling in the present moment,
I know this is a wonderful moment.

Viva Las Vegas…

random thoughts about my trip:
Most of my immediate family will be heading out to Vegas next Thursday, which I’m really excited about. A lot needs to happen between now and then, both emotionally and in the way of preparing for a trip. I just bought a new camera that I need to get a few lenses for as well as a tripod since my dad is pretty adamant that I be in the photos instead of only taking them.

The original plan was to drive to Vegas, which I was hoping would be a time of relaxation in itself. I’m super excited about flying, and this will be the first time I’ve flown with my family. It will be an experience to remember (hopefully).

I like reading in the airport and on trips, especially since there’s a whole chunk of time that I can devote to a good book. I don’t know what it will be like traveling with my family, I don’t doubt that I won’t get to do what I want anytime that I want like I could if I were traveling solo or with friends.

I’m in need of some new reading material. Feel free to leave a comment or send me an email.

I'm looking forward to the trip. There will probably be lots of posts to come from the trip. (hopefully good ones)

Oh so yummy...

I like me some margaritas.

And, if you're not laughing after having read that, you should be.

And, I didn't say it wasn't true, just funny.

Still not laughing? How about we go out for drinks?

Poignant

I was going to write a blog entry of my own until I came across this link on Ben's blog (it was the second time it circled through my peeps.)

Take the time to read it. Really read it.

"united in the belief that where you live should no longer determine whether you live."

"I truly believe that when the history books are written, our age will be remembered for three things: the war on terror, the digital revolution, and what we did—or did not to—to put the fire out in Africa."
