to the land of the living...

"We do not have to die to arrive at the gates of Heaven. In fact, we have to be truly alive. The practice is to touch life deeply so that the Kingdom of God becomes a reality...The Kingdom of God is available here and now."

'Breathing in, I calm my body.
Breathing out, I smile.
Dwelling in the present moment,
I know this is a wonderful moment.'

quotes from Living Buddha, Living Christ by Thich Nhat Hanh.

Happy Thanksgiving

"If there's anything we need one another for, it's to help us see Life, to hold each other's hands when we have to go down into the basements of ourselves and turn the lights on, to prod each other to spend our days wisely, to urge each other to invest our lives and time in things that matter to us, to point out beauty, to sit and be with ugliness and grief, to stir up one another's imaginations, to passs hope back and forth among one another that Life can be better in this world: that it's worth our tears and sweat and failures...And to remind each other that being with another human with confidence and quiet gentleness is the most difficult and beautiful thing we could experience." ~tasha

It's Snowing, It's SNOWING!!!

more fuel to the fire

“The other day you when we were talking about Thanksgiving you said “your family” but, they’re not just my family, they are your family too. It’s not my fault or their fault that you’re not as close to them.” (implying that it is MY fault--actually it’s my decision and I'm okay with that)

“Dad, I wasn’t saying that. I was just making the distinction between your side of the family and mom’s side of the family."

breakdown

Again, it happened. I wept harder than I had in a long time. The pain was right at the surface, bubbling into reality. I was grateful I was with someone safe. Some days are more difficult than others. Some days I continue to distract myself. And, some days I weep.

time goes by...

Much of my week has been taken by lots of things and lots of people that I love. It has been a bit stressful lately as most nights I don't get home until 9 or 10pm after a long day of work. With winter coming and shorter daylight hours I am craving more sleep, more peace, and if I had my way more hours of sunshine.

I don't have much time to blog, maybe you're grateful for that. At any rate, there are things bouncing around in my head and I think they will soon find their way out if given the opportunity.

Highlights of my week:
*Watching a mother and her young kids run and jump in a pile of leaves last weekend
*Taking part in Tuesday events and wishing Jan a "Happy Birthday"
*Being awestruck in looking at love by way of Ben and Gehrig
*Making myself vulnerable to a friend

A friend told me about this and I thought some of you might enjoy it. I think it happens to be quite funny.
