I was in tears by the end...

Over the Rhine, Give Me Strength

sitting in the rain alone
looking at a place that’s gone
boarded up my memories
but something’s drawn me here again and i
i cannot leave the past alone
hoped that i would never find
all the shit i left behind
now i find the child in me is going to remind me that i
i can’t forget my past for long

so take a look outside yourself
and tell me what you see
i can’t believe
that you won’t see the change in me

give me strength to find the road that’s lost in me
give me time to heal and build myself a dream
give me eyes to see the world surrounding me
give me strength to be only me

i don’t want to hear the things
you say you know all you’ve redeemed
‘cause i can’t change what’s come before
build myself some better dreams
and cast off the fear that holds me here

so take a look outside yourself
and tell me what you see
i can’t believe
that you won’t see the change in me

give me strength to find the road that’s lost in me
give me strength to heal and build myself a dream
give me eyes to see the world surrounding me
give me strength to be only me

a quick update...

I am now employed...

At Great American Advisors. This is the beginning of my second week and I feel good about finally having a job. I have so much more to share...but, I'm eating lunch.

My list.

Last Spring (as in 2004) I created, or at least began to create, a list of things that I wanted to do in my lifetime. Some are serious, some are obviously not. Some things I would be heartbroken if they weren't achieved, others I'm not worried about. With the exception of the last two (added in the fall of '04) I haven't made any changes to the list (yet).

Here goes:
1. Spend time in Europe (England)
2. Learn more about photography
3. Walk in a mini-marathon
4. Learn another language
5. Grow flowers for enjoyment
6. Learn to be confident in myself
7. Build relationships with children
8. Volunteer
9. Plant a tree
10. Learn to sew/quilt
11. Take time to scrapbook
12. Work abroad
13. Maintain a healthy weight, after reaching it
14. Learn to dance
15. Hang-glide
16. Mentor Someone
17. Possibly adopt a child(ren)
18. Make a stained-glass window
19. Become emotionally whole
20. Learn to never settle

I don't know where #18 came from. Random. There are more that I will add to the list.

weird

I received an email from a friend that I haven't talked to in over a year. Hmm. Maybe I'll have to take a trip to see him. That would be great.
